Review: BeneFit Bad Gal Lash

I had used this mascara in the past quite frequently and had drilled it in my brain that it was actually quite good.

If you remember Glamour magazine was giving some away free, so that was the time I stocked up and only recently have been giving it some love.

What do I think of it now? The brush is still massive, :) I don't think as highly of it as much as I used to. I applied it today, and it just felt like it did nothing, blah! I was actually skeptical in thinking I got a dodgy tube, but no... all it does is coat the lashes with a very thin black film, it doesn't make them thicker, longer or volumise them in any way. The only good thing about it, is that it doesn't clump, so if you have naturally gorgeous thick lashes then this would make a good everyday mascara. But for me? No.

In conclusion, if you want WOW lashes, then I wouldn't invest in this one.

Photo: A few generous coats of the Bad Gal lash.

What mascara do you recommend for WOW lashes? So far, my two favourites are the YSL Faux Cils, but it clumps. and the Chanel Exceptionnel - Amazing. Check my review here.

Update: Maybelline Pulse Perfection mascara: Guess what? the novelty has worn off, it seems the battery is dying and it no longer gives me the effect it did in the first week. Fail. :(

Li Lash Update - Review

I have been using Li Lash every night for just over 6 weeks now, and wanted to share the progress...

Initial thoughts on application for the first few weeks, were that my eyes felt sore, my vision was slightly blurred and nothing much happened. It basically felt like a waste of time, but I was patient.

After 4 weeks, I noticed that applying mascara was very enjoyable, wishful thinking enabled me to believe that Li Lash was actually working.

After 6 weeks, I noticed that I didn't have to curl my eyelashes anymore as the tips are trying to turn upwards and plenty of people were asking if I was wearing falsies.

It's clear to see that, my eyelashes haven't become thicker.... instead they have just grown longer and longer. My bottom lashes haven't grown that much, but I'm hoping with continued use that they will blossom.

I am afraid of having an uneven lash line, but it seems certain lashes are choosing to grow faster than others. I have no fallout to report back or any complaints about my eye colour getting darker. Everything is normal in that department.

I will continue to use Li Lash about 2-3 times a week until my tube is finished, I don't think I still need to apply everyday?! If I witness any developments I will be sure to keep you updated. However, I do have my eyes set on the L'oreal lash serum, I wonder if that works just as well for a fraction of the price.

In conclusion if you fancy longer lashes, as all us girlies do, then Li Lash is one to investigate as it DOES work! :) *yay*

Have you tried this product, if so what do you think and what are your recommendations?

In's and Out's

  • A holiday - I'm going to Turkey (Istanbul & Bursa) next month for 9 days! *So happy!* Although it will not be a beach holiday, no "real" tan for me this year. It's more of a business trip as well as some much needed time out with the family! :)

Photo (Bursa - Steps leading to Yesil)

  • Designing, drawing, sketching and brainstorming. I'm actually on a mission to design some make up bags, brush rolls, bags and other types of accessorries to add to my jewellery creations.
  • Healthy hair - I have said bye bye to my split ends, and got a trim!
  • Dark nailpolish.
  • Sleek Storm palette.
  • Topshop Jamie jeans.
  • Pretty colourful scarves from H&M.

  • Unhealthy , dry, dull hair.
  • Pretty summer dresses! :(
  • Curling my eyelashes. I don't need to, thanks to Li Lash. :)
  • Pigments... It seems I never have time for these!

Turkish Delight in lipstick form?

Yes, I think I found it!

Whilst browsing the Maybelline colorsensational lipsticks in Superdrug the other day (yes - I was so happy with the ones in my goody bag that I went to explore more), I came across 108 Pink Pearl. I happened to have Nars Turkish Delight lipgloss in my bag, and couldn't contain my excitement when I saw that they were the same colour!

The Turkish Delight is the prettiest pinkie nude lipgloss colour you will ever find, however, it always rubs off very easily. But, the Pink Pearl has solved my problem! :)

When swatched on my hand, you can see that the Pink Pearl has a slight "mauve pearl" finish to it.. However, once it's on the lips, the colour is almost identical. The lipgloss tones down the silverish hue of the lipstick and creates a lovely finish.

Here, I have applied the Maybelline Pink Pearl lipstick, with the Nars Turkish Delight on top. It's the perfect combo for me! Yayy! :) However, you be your own judge!

If you are scared of nude lipsticks, then I would recommend this one for you, as it's very wearable and "safe", it will not wash the colour out of your face!
Also, I am aware that in the States have the Color Sensational range under different names, hunt it down! :)

HAIR: Triple French Plait

Today my hair needed to be up, because I simply felt like it! :) I usually just pull it all back, but today I did something different to it.

I sectioned the front section of my hair into 3 parts, and french plaited them....

I then tied it all up in a ponytail with a hairband, and plaited a section of it and wrapped it all the way round to hide the hairband.

It looked really cool, so I thought I would share that information with you! :)

This is what it looks like from the front, quite subtle... but interesting!

Do you do random casual updos like this?

PS: I have been really rocking the Sleek Storm palette, in these pictures I have on the lighter blue, with the midnight blue on the outer V with the brown matt colours in the crease. I cant get over how pigmented the colours are! Will do a full post on that soon! X

FOTD and Too Faced Naughty Neutral Palette!

Face: Bobbi Brown tinted moisturiser and bourjois gold bronzing powder.
Cheeks: Too Faced naughty neutral palette bronzer.
Lips: Too Faced naughty neutral palette pale lipgloss and L'oreal Cappuccino lipliner.
Eyes: Too Faced naughty neutral palette cream eyeshadow on lid, with the bronzer blended into the crease. Maybelline pulse perfection mascara.

The Naughty neutral palette: THE STARLETTE by Too Faced.

Today was the first time I used this, I actually really like it. At a first glance it looks like any other neutral palette, but when examined looks rather unique.

The top two are lipglosses, one is a pinky peach, it looks like Nars Orgasm. And the other is a pale nude which is the one I'm wearing today *Love*.

The big one, is the bronzer. It's a matt golden brown, it looks so pretty as a blush on me!

The paler eyeshadow, is similar to Mac Femme Fi, A pale golden cream. The darker eyeshadow is a dirty plum colour with gold flecks.

I haven't used all of them yet, I shall explore and experiment further and post a full review with swatches once I have come to a conclusion.

I received this palette from Laa Laa, along with these other products as a prize, thank you sweetie, it was an amazing competition and I love my prizes. YES I won that competition with the tropical entry I did back in June. Thank you to all of you that voted for me, I really appreciate it! x X x

I even got to choose which Sleek palette I wanted, (Storm) and the Barry M shades so that I wouldn't have dupes, how thoughtful. :) I can't wait to experiment with everything!

Project Clear Skin: My Current Skincare Routine

As you know, throughout the past few months I have been having rather a lot of trouble with my skin and continuously experimenting with different products ranging from the high end and "natural" spectrum. I have already done reviews on some of these products, but wanted to include4 my full regimen.

This post includes pictures of me wearing no make up, just to prove that my skin is actually looking rather good! :)

This is what I use everyday: Click photo to enlarge.

  • Nivea refreshing facial wash gel
  • Olay gentle cleansers refreshing toner

Night time:

  • Nivea gentle waterproof eye make-up remover
  • Olay gentle cleansers cleansing milk
  • Olay gentle cleansers refreshing toner

And this is what I use on the odd occasion: Click photo to enlarge

Neals Yard organic rose hip seed oil: I used this once every 1-2 weeks as a face mask left on overnight. This is supposed to help with scarring.

Burts Bees orange essence facial cleanser: I have been using this about 1-2 times a week as a cleansing treat for my skin.

Origins Get Down: I use this to exfoliate once a week.

Liz Earle smoothing line serum (night) eye cream and Superdrug natural high brightening eye cream in the morning. I always forget to apply eye creams, which is actually a good thing as it avoids product buildup and prevents from bags. I usually just apply my moisturiser all the way up and around my eye area which seems to work as thankfully I don't have wrinkles.

And here's what my skin looks like ready for bed with NO MAKE UP! Yes I am brave :)

My skin has seriously improved so much, I have been doing this regimen for AGES now and it really works. All that is on my face is Nivea creme which is why my face is SO shiny. But when I wake up in the morning my face has soaked up all the moisture and just looks amazing.

I also went through a retro skin routine, where I applied lemon juice to my face every morning for 5 minutes, for about 2 weeks. I think this has also helped immensely.

I couldn't even include my before pictures as I look SO disgusting in them. :( I can now officially say that I don't suffer with acne anymore. I still get the odd spot and some of my scars haven't fully healed yet... but it looks SO much better! *Yay* :)

I have FINALLY found what works for me, and surprisingly and luckily they are drugstore brands. Simplifying my regime and eliminating harsh chemicals has really helped calm my skin down. HAPPY TIMES! Yes, my skin is totally not clear yet, but it's getting there. :)

Please keep in mind that I really minimised the amount of make up I put on my face, if you wear a heavy foundation everyday it's time you switched to something like a tinted moisturiser and saved a full coverage for special occassions. Your skin will thank you for it.

Outfit post with all the trimmings!

Denim Skirt: Levi's (old)
Leggins: New Look
Vest: Armani Exchange
Cropped Jacket: Zara (new)
Ankle Boots: New Look (new)
Bag: Warehouse
Belt: Vintage
Necklace: My own design.

The outfit photographs didn't do the jacket justice so I have included a closeup. It has beautiful pleated puffy sleeves which tighten at the elbows.

Here' a close up of the necklace which I made yesterday... I used a vintage Afghan pendant and combined it with colourful rustic beads.

My hair was inspired by a video by AndreasChoice, Lovin' it! My hair is getting longer, BUT.... and there's always a but, it needs a trim! :( I had to adapt the halo braid look as the front of my hair is super layered so they weren't long enough to go all the way round! :(

My makeup was plain and simple... A.K.A Boring!

Face: A tiny bit of Bobbi Browns tinted moisturiser on my cheeks and chin area only. A light dusting of Bourjois gold bronzing powder all over my face.
Cheeks: , Eyeko bronzing cream as blush. Benefit Moon Beam as highlight.
Eyes: Benefit boing concealer under the eyes. Maybelline pulse perfection vibrating mascara on top lashes only. Benefit eye bright pencil on inner corners of my eyes.
Lips: L'oreal Cappuccino lipliner with a pinky clear lipgloss.

Please excuse the quality of the pictures, they were taken on my phone as I didn't have my camera with me today! X

Matalan - Home

Today I went shopping with my mum, we purchased some things for her newly decorated London apartment. She ALWAYS takes me out with her to add the finishing touches to each room.

Basket £8 - Matalan
Hand towels £3 - Matalan
Honey & Almond Soaps - TK(J) Maxx

We picked up some stuff for the bathroom, I just had to show you this, it's a cute shopping basket type storage box that your supposed to put bottles in, but I very neatly folded two hand towels in there, and added two bars of honey and almond soap. This will sit in front of the bathroom window... Seriously how cute does it look?
Places like Laura Ashley or Zara Home is usually where I go, but I've realised that the cheaper stores have really caught on and that you can find gorgeous dupes. TK(J) Maxx is also a great place to go to find unique and afforable items.

Do you have tips to style a room?

I always make sure there's a focal point, and that things are balanced but not too overdone. For example, I hate it when you look at a shelf and there are three vases of the same colour sitting in a row. I much rather put one vase on one side, and a group of things on the other.

Maybelline Pulse Perfection Vibrating Mascara

The Maybelline Pulse Perfection mascara isn't a gimmick like I expected it to be, it actually works!

Before trying the mascara, I dismissed it totally even when the luxury brands launched their version as I just thought... "these things never actually deliver on what they claim to do" but, surprisingly somehow when you apply the wand to the lashes, you can see a MAJOR difference!

The wand itself, looks very generic, nothing fancy. In order to use the mascara, you have to first pull back the gold label to activate it. You then push down on the raised clip when you want the vibration on, so basically you can control it yourself.

Here are my lashes before...

And here they are after applying the pulse perfection vibrating mascara....

Personally, I notice a huge difference, I have been wearing it for three days in a row. It's non clumping, with an intense black glossy finish. I have also had no problems with it smearing or smudging. Even my hubby commented on how amazing my lashes looked! :) It must be good if a man notices lol.
I really enjoyed the application of this, however, you have to be very slow and patient whilst working your way from root to tip and let the vibrating wand do the work.
UK Price: £14.99

I shall be doing a Li Lash update soon, you can see from my before picture that nothing that exciting is happening, it's been 5 weeks! PS: I didn't even curl my lashes as they didn't need it, and I always curl my lashes normally!

Have you tried this mascara yet? If so, what do you think?
UPDATE: Guess what? the novelty has worn off, it seems the battery is dying and it no longer gives me the effect it did in the first week. Fail. :(

and now to make them reality!
