Outfit + All Saints

'Paranormal Activity 2' was intense, it was as good as the first one but not better. We went to see it last night and I ended up wearing this ensemble instead of the jumpsuit as I wanted to be more casual for a Thursday.

I teamed it with skinny jeans and dark tan leather peep toes, I wore the new Orelea beaded hoop earrings and lots of random bracelets.

I also made a trip to All Saints yesterday... Uh oh!

I got 2 things!

The 'Forgotten Tee' t-shirt...

I just love the distressed brown fabric, the neckline is twisted and sits beautifully in a very flattering way.

I have always loved their tags. Some of them have tea stains and a burnt look to them too..

And.. I purchased the 'Dahlia' dress, it was developed from a vintage sample and is effortlessly cool.

It has so many details, I will let the photos do the speaking.

This week has been about clothes shopping, I feel good not buying so much makeup and instead using up what I own. But, I go through phases. :)

Have you been doing more clothes shopping recently? What are your thoughts on 'All Saints'?

Hit and miss..

Which is which?

FAIL: I hate Barry M's new instant (311) 'Nail Effects' which is basically a matte black nail polish that cracks once applied on top of another nail polish to reveal a unique design. Yes, the results are instant and it has an "effect" but it's not that great. On my short nails it just looks like chipped and peeled nail polish and I dislike that the results aren't consistent, sometimes it cracks nicely, and sometimes it bubbles up which leads to an uneven texture. Overall, this is a definite miss from me.

SUCCESS: On the other hand I love Barry M's (244) 'Hologram' nail polish which is clear with chunks of small circular glitter that have a multi dimensional shine. It sounds tacky and childish but I really like it layered over the top of paler colours and grey to really make my nails sparkle. One coat delivers roughly 6 sparkles, I like to add 2 layers to really make them stand out. Also, I would like to add that the glitter is easily removed with nail polish remover.

What's your verdict?

Good Times..

I unexpectedly found these items today.... As you do.

I am in LOVE with this jump suit, the colours are very Autumnal and I deemed it perfect for myself, it was a bargain at £30 from Zara.

It doesn't look like much on the hanger so I tried it on for you. The waist has some gathering but I thought it needed breaking up so introduced a belt. I plan on wearing it to the cinema as we are going to go see Paranormal Activity 2 sometime this week.

Gotta love intricate waist belts for some jazzing.

I casually *whistles* bumped into these earrings in Topshop at the Orelia stand, and look how much the pale blue beads match the fabric of the jumpsuit. MINE!

I love this over sized jumper from H&M, it looks very shapeless and confusing to wear. I plan on wearing it slouchy & off the shoulder with skinny jeans and boots. Price: £14.99

Oh and this necklace was very dainty yet striking at the 'Mode' concession at Topshop,
I thought it was very cool, easy to wear and shaped like nothing I own.

I also finally picked up Barry M's instant nail effects and a chunky glitter nail polish - Woot!

Also, yesterday I made this statement necklace with semi precious Turquoise and Jade stones, it will complete any basic outfit, particularly a black dress.

How would you wear a jumpsuit? What do you think of over sized jumpers and statement necklaces?

Earrings and Bangle Storage!

After showing you how I store my necklaces in my 'How to make the most of your closet space' post, many of you asked how and where I store the rest of my jewellery.

Here's how!

I have the Aspelund chest of drawers from Ikea which is actually quite special.

Once you pull the top drawer open, you are left with a secret drawer.

I have managed to squeeze all of my earrings inside. Again, I like that everything is concealed and out of sight.

I have used acrylic dividers from Muji for all of my earrings. They are mainly organised by colour and then style.

I have used odd boxes to store my rings and studs.

My bangles and bracelets are kept in this pretty floral hat box which I got from TK Maxx, it has strong handles on it which makes it easy for me to pull out when I need to.

How do you store your earrings and bangles?

Out with the old...

Yes, I played around with my skin care again, I always do. As a blogger and a very interested and curious individual I'm always looking for the next best thing which is actually not very healthy. Last week I explored AHA moisturisers and my skin broke out REALLY badly. I am also a picker, I pick and poke at anything that resembles a spot and make it 10X worse. Discussing my frustration with my husband, he suggested I use the moisturiser he's using and stick to it. I chucked all of my never ending skin care products into a bag and out of sight.

Bye bye my loved ones!

In with the new!

The moisturiser my husband uses is by Neutrogena and is the oil free version. I actually purchased it for myself about 3 months ago, used it once and that was that.

Why oil free? Well, up until 2 years ago I never EVER got spots, when I did I started wearing foundation which made it worse. My skin without makeup is normal, however when I wear make up I get a oily t-zone, therefore oil free products without any spot fighting ingredients is great for me, as I don't want my skin to get used to salicylic acid.

I got the oil free face wash and make up remover to match, they are currently on offer for 3 for 2 at Boots. The moisturiser is actually very moisturising and the face wash lathers up nicely. The make up remover is nice but I still feel like I need a eye makeup remover when I wear a lot of make up.

I have wanted to try the Clarisonic but can not justify the price, I got this face brush from the Botanics range at Boots, it's really soft and in my opinion does the same thing. It works really well with the face wash...

I am currently using the Garnier grape water eye makeup remover which I have repurchased a few times, it's gentle and effective.

My overflowing skin care box is now filled with what I need. It actually feels quite liberating.

Sometimes you have to put your faith in to science (in my case Neutrogena) as natural isn't always best.

Have you tried this oil free range, if so what do you think?

From now on....

  • I will stick to this regimen for 2 months solid even if my skin goes bananas.
  • I will not pick and squeeze at my spots even if they are shouting at me!

My advice? Stick to what works for you and don't experiment!

Xen Tan Mist Intense!

I hate this version of Xen Tan that comes in the spray bottle, whilst the end colour result is nice the application is a nightmare. I know how to apply it, exfoliate.... moisturise dry patches and use a mitt. However, it's the fact that it settles into pores that makes it frustrating for me.

When I use fake tan, I use it all over my body and face, I used this on my face this morning and it made tiny bumps and pores darker as it has instant muddy colour. It's happened every single time I used it, so about 10X now and I keep hoping it wont happen again but it does. I like using fake tan as it evens out my comlexion, but this seems to make it even more uneven. DISASTER!
If you ever want to try out Xen Tan don't get this one, instead maybe opt for the 'Deep Bronze Luxe' which I LOVE (Read my review HERE.) or the dark tanning lotion.

Have you tried this version? If so, what do you think?

Stars 'n' Rockets FOTD!

Stars 'n' Rockets is one of my favourite Mac eye shadows. It's a veluxe pearl finish which means it's incredibly smooth and pigmented with a duo chrome finish. It's a beautiful purple with a pink and blue sheen.

I chose to wear it on my lid today, due to the shape of my eyes it's not that visible at a first glance...

But BLINK and voila. I love it, it's perfect as it's bright without being over the top for day time.

Products used:
  • FACE: Bourjois 10hr Sleep effect foundation + Collection 2000 perfecting minerals + Bobbi Brown creamy concealer.
  • CHEEKS: Benefit Hoola
  • EYES: Mac 'Stars 'n' Rockets' e/s all over the lid, 'Naked Lunch' on inner corner and 'Cork' in the crease and lower lash line. Bourjois brown eyeliner to tight line and Mac Zoom fast black lash mascara.
  • LIPS: Mac 'Oak' lip liner and Barry M 'Strawberry Milkshake' lip gloss.

HAIR UPDATE: The henna hair dye I used which I mentioned in THIS post completely washed out, so I opted for Clairol's Perfect 10 in the lightest cool brown.

And.... Of course I had to share a picture of the belt I was wearing today. Isn't it gorgeous? I'm sorry to say it's really old, it's real leather and handmade, I think it was from Jaegar or Reiss.

How do you wear Stars 'n' Rockets? I sometimes like to wear it on my lower lash line with winged eyeliner and nothing else on the lid too.

How to make the most of your closet space!

In this post I will be sharing some of my organisation tips to save space, firstly I removed the door of my closet so that my room appeared larger.

I accessorised with items and colours that were suited to my decor and style.

The first thing you need is thin hangers, wooden ones obviously look more beautiful but they are so chunky which means you can't squeeze as many clothes in.
As you can see behind my clothes I have hung my necklaces.

I have SO many necklaces and when they are on show they look very cluttered, and tucked away in a box they get tangled and I hardly wear them because I don't see them. I have hung them on tiny nails which is practical and inspiring for me as I can quickly associate them to the clothes I'm wearing.

I have put more nails on the side for different types of necklaces..

I have put bigger nails so that I can hang my hair tools for easy access, when doing this make sure you have the nail at a slant so that the tools wont fall off if you accidentally touch them.

I have put more nails right on the top for my hats.

Give me some nails and a hammer and I'm busy!
:)

I have a small closet but I make the most of it. It's like a Mary Poppins closet, everything pops out, but the best thing is that everything has a place.

Do you have any space saving tips?
