Flying in the first breeze of Spring..

Yesterday I purchased some treats for myself as I NEEDED them, it was a great Saturday and here's what I got..

L'Occitane 'Cherry Blossom Eu du toilette 100ml' and a 'Milk extra gentle soap'.

'Cherry blossom' is my favourite scent from L'Occitane, I love the light fresh floral fragrance that is very soft and Spring like. Have a whiff next time you are by a store. I have currently been hating my usual sweet overpowering fruity scents and even dark sexy scents, I just want something clean and fresh and 'Cherry Blossom' is it.

I also ordered this collection from QVC yesterday which was the TSV. I am well pleased! :)

A trip to Space NK and I left with 2 things. Nars 'Super Orgasm' illuminator and 'Shu Uemura painting liner'.

As soon as I swatched the Super Orgasm illuminator it had to be mine.

It's the perfect golden peach with tiny flecks of finely milled golden glitter, it's pigmented and makes a great highlighter/illuminator for my skin tone. The'Copacabana' and 'Laguna' illuminators looked pretty too but didn't wow me like 'Super Orgasm' did.

I have a small sample of the standard 'Orgasm illuminator' and here's a comparison. 'Super Orgasm' is much more pigmented and has a lot more dimension, it is also peachier in tone. The standard 'Orgasm illuminator' was such a disappointment but 'Super Orgasm' isn't, for me anyway.

I usually stick to my blacktrack fluidline by Mac, but this time wanted to try the Shu Uemera one, I got it in black noir and I am happy to say it's suitable for the waterline. However, so far I am not entirely happy with the product, as it doesn't dry quick enough when applying, the colour transfers onto my eyelids, maybe I am doing something wrong, help me out if you can! :)

It's a very dark black which is excellent and looks superb on the waterline like no other, I will do a full review on it once I have used it a lot more.

Do you have any of these products, if so what are your views?

Back to acrylic storage..

I updated my makeup storage again, this time I reverted back to the 'Muji' acrylic drawers I used to use. Needless to say I am loving it..

I minimised my brushes for 'everyday' and stored them inside these glass candle holders I purchased from 'LomBok' recently which tie in perfectly with the rooms decor.

Sumptuous Olive fotd..

Tonight I used one of my favourite colours I had totally forgotten about. 'Sumptuous Olive' by Mac is a beautiful golden olive colour, I teamed it with 'Sweet and Punchy' which is a golden lime green to accentuate the green.

I really do love colour and must make an effort to wear it more often.

All products used on eyes: Mac eyeshadows: 'Ricepaper' (highlight), 'Sumptuous Olive' (outer corner) and 'Sweet and Punchy' (inner corner) eyeshadow. Urban Decay 24/7 liner in 'Zero' on upper lash and waterline. Dior 'Extase' mascara.

  • Face: Dior skin nude foundation, Mac studio finish concealer, YSL touche eclat.
  • Cheeks: Dior matte bronzer and 'Amber Diamond' highlighter.
  • Lips: Jemma Kidd lipliner 'Nutmeg' and Nars 'Turkish Delight' lipgloss.

Look how beautifully the Dior 'Amber Diamond' highlighter photographs. In reality it looks more natural and only glistens when the light hits it, I really am loving it so far.

On my nails I am wearing 'Sephora by OPI - Metro Chic', the Hubby chose this colour, it was either this or a lilac, he loves the more "natural" hues. I must say I do love how this applies and looks, it's gorgeous!

My outfit was really simple, just jeans and a leather jacket, my favourite piece I was wearing was my cuff bracelet, it's simply stunning, it's an antique lapis of luxury piece I picked up from Turkey a few years ago.

Have you ever worn an olive green eyeshadow, if not would you consider it?

Dior purchases..

I have a few new family members for my collection.

First up is the infamous 'Amber Diamond' powder highlighter, I put off buying this for a long time as I just didn't feel like it was as special as people deemed it to be. I swatched it several times and finally it's mine.

Could it be the perfect highlighter? I don't know yet, but it sure looks good.

It looks very natural, and looks like it would suit almost any skin tone.

It actually looks like a powder version of the Jemma Kidd 'Dewy face glow' but with more of a sheen to it.

I also got the Matte bronzer in shade 02.

It's quite warm and natural looking for my skin tone.

It's actually the exact same shade in powder form as the Chanel bronze universal (Soleil Tan De Chanel). You can see how cool 'Hoola' and 'Laguna' look compared to it.

I also got their new mascara 'Diorshow Extase'..

The 'Lip Glow Lip balm' which has no colour but changes to a shade of pink according to the PH level of your lips. It's also a colour reviver, you are supposed to be able to apply it on top of the lip colour you are wearing to make it look fresh.

Lastly, the 'Dior Skin Nude' foundation. I tried a sample of this foundation from a magazine in the exact shade I purchased, and loved it. It's totally different to what I am used to as it has no dewyness to it whatsoever. It has a totally skin like finish with medium coverage which is buildable.

I haven't tried these products properly yet to give a full review on it as I just got them yesterday and wanted to share my initial reactions along with swatches.

What's your favourite Dior purchase?

Curls and a dewy glow..

Today I used a curling tong to curl my hair, I haven't done this in AGES, why I don't know.. There's never enough time I guess.

Soft curls really give a romantic feel, the trick is to do big chunks and then run your fingers through them once it has cooled down.

My make up has been natural everyday for the past few weeks, it seems the gloomy weather has drowned my inspiration to apply colour onto my face.*Sigh* I'm always longing for Summer.

Here's what I was wearing today:

  • Face: Mac 'Face and Body' C3, Chanel pressed powder on the centre of my face, studio finish concealer NC30.
  • Cheeks: Benefit Hoola, Jemma Kidd radiance cream 'Rose Gold'.
  • Lips: Jemma Kidd lip liner 'Nutmeg', Jemma Kidd lipstick 'Bridgetown'.
  • Eyes: Mac 'Vellum', 'Patina' & 'Satin Taupe' e/s, Jemma Kidd eyeliner 'Earth', Rimmel 'Max volume flash' mascara. Garnier tinted eye roll on and YSL Touch Eclat to brighten under the eyes.

As you can see I am wearing quite a lot of Jemma Kidd make up, I was recently sent a few items and I can not believe that almost everything they sent me was in the perfect shades. The lip liner is amazing, it's even nicer than my beloved Mac 'Oak' lipliner, (I'm going to do a post on lip liners soon.) The lipstick is a brown toned nude, and the eyeliner is a rich dark brown.

However, there was a major standout product, and that is the 'Dewy Glow all over radiance creme in 02 Rose Gold'.

The packaging is rubber just like Nars which is SO annoying as it gets grubby very quickly. However, It does have a big mirror inside the compact which is great for on the go.

It's a cream highlighter which isn't oily or greasy, it's very smooth and non sticky. The shade is a beautiful gold with a slight Rosy hue, hence the name 'Rose Gold'.

I have been using it applied on the tops of my cheekbones almost every day, it adds luminosity without looking sweaty. It's very natural and I usually just dab it on with my fingers.

Have you been curling your hair recently? And do you have any favourites from 'Jemma Kidd'?

Disclaimer: Jemma Kidd products were sent for consideration for review, I was not paid for this post and I am not affiliated with the brand. Honest opinion as always.

There are still plenty of unfinished projects, the main one being the kitchen tiles on the wall, and the bathroom. I still have so many odd jobs but am really pleased with the progress so far. I love looking at the before pictures, it just goes to show with a little imagination and hard work you can make a cozy home.
